We will be watching Mirror & Missal Part I: The Magical Women of Echo Park, an independent film written and directed by Emett Casey (@emettcaseyfilms).

Emett shared some of his experimental pieces at our first Open Screen, and now we’ll be getting a look into one of his feature length works, which employs some experimental techniques in constructing a magical, poetic-narrative around a fictionalized version of Echo Park as an artists bohemia fertile with witches, dancers, poets and vagabonds! Lunar cycles and love potions abound – Mirror & Missal plays out as a satirical arthouse romp across a cosmos of genres and styles.
After we watch the film we’ll have a discussion with Emett about realizing low-budget, truly independent film, and the life / work / time / resources balance that it takes in creating other worlds with limited means.
