The Outtakes Sessions

An evening where film and music come together in a raw, one-of-a-kind performance, with special guest artist Jackie Turpin opening the evening with her gorgeous 3D environments played along live music. Musicians Charlie Hale and Angelo Felder craft improvised soundtracks to unseen film outtakes—rare moments cherished by LA filmmakers that never made it into the cut. For one night only, these lost cinematic fragments find a home, brought to life with a live score.

Charlie Hale is a pianist and composer whose work has been featured at LACMA, the Getty, and the Whitney Biennial (2017). Classically trained, Charlie pushes his sound to the edge with distorted synth and classical piano.

Angelo Felder bridges folk rock and experimental textures, with a musical style that channels Kurt Cobain meets Neil Young. He’s played for years as a session guitarist for singer-songwriters, and composed for documentary film. He is soon to release the debut EP of his band, Grand Yukon Territory.

Together, Hale and Felder have been playing in bands since 2010, from folk rock to expansive desert-inspired soundscapes.
